Demi-Permanent or Semi-Permanent hair color is wonderful for blending gray by adding darker tones. The color contains peroxide (no ammonia) which results in less-visible regrowth. Touch-ups are recommended every 4 to 6 weeks.
Permanent is very good for covering gray by lightening or darkening hair. The formulation contains peroxide, MEA, and ammonia. Regrowth needs to be touched up every 4 to 6 weeks.
Glazing uses semi-permanent to darken hair, change tonality and always adds shine. Clear glazing can be used to make your natural color glisten. Gloss or glaze needs to be reapplied every few weeks or months, depending on the desired result.
Highlights and Lowlights Highlights use lightener paste or permanent color to lighten hair. Lowlights can use permanent or demi-permanent color to darken sections. Both are fantastic strategies to cover gray and usually require touch-ups at least every three months.
Ombre’ is the uber-popular hair color technique seen in all the fashion magazines. It features a gradual hair color progression (usually dark roots to light ends) and has a low-maintenance appeal with a touch-up schedule left to you.
