Fall Trend Alert: Early 70’s Revival!

Stevie’s shag. So good!

What goes around always comes back around when it comes to fashion and beauty trends. 2019 has been heavily influenced by 70’s and 90’s style but fall brings the best opportunity to embrace all things groovy!

As the weather is cooling down, we can start pulling out thicker fabrics like corduroy, suede, velvet, and of course denim. Earthy and warm tones (mustard, rust, olive, tan, and burgundy) are essential to this style.

Peasant tops, halter tops, and graphic tees are often paired with high rise bell bottoms or skirts of all lengths and a heavy coat over top. Accessorize with rounded sunglasses, wood, gold, or stone jewelry and suede or leather belts and bags with fringe details. Complete with platform boots, Mary Janes, or simple tennis shoes to create casual and cute looks that are totally far out!

The shag is also back and better than ever! The most iconic shags that come to mind are those of Farrah Fawcett, Stevie Nicks, Meg Ryan, and Joan Jett. While they are all different styles and shapes to suit each person’s individual texture, they share the key characteristics of a heavy fringe and tons of layering at the crown and throughout to create and enhance texture in the hair.

Texturizing products are the key to finishing these perfectly disheveled locks. A good paste worked into the root for volume and lift and through the ends for piecey definition will do just the trick! Try using our Alfaparf Milano Style Stories Fiber Paste ($25) to achieve this. Remember to always start with small amounts as you can always add more but too much can weigh your hair down and have the opposite effect.
